Who we are

Taste Bender (“we”, “us”) operates the café at 316 College Street, Toronto, Ontario, and this website. We are responsible for the personal information described in this policy and handle it in line with Canada’s Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA).

What we collect

Orders. Your name, email address, phone number, shipping address and the items you order, so we can prepare, ship and support your order.

Reservations and enquiries. Your name, phone number, email address, party size and the date and time you choose, plus anything you tell us in a catering or general enquiry.

Accounts. If you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address and profile picture from Google. We never see or store your Google password and we do not access your Gmail, contacts, calendar or files.

Payments. Card payments are processed by Square. Your card details go directly to Square and are never stored on our website. We keep a record of the payment status, amount and Square reference.

Website statistics. We count page views, the website that referred you and whether you used a phone or a computer. These are daily totals only: we do not use advertising trackers, we do not build visitor profiles and we do not store your IP address in our statistics.

Cookies

We use only essential cookies and browser storage: one keeps you signed in to your account, one protects forms from automated abuse, and your browser remembers the contents of your bag. We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.

How we use your information

To prepare, ship and deliver orders; to confirm and manage reservations; to send order, shipping and reservation emails; to answer your questions; to issue invoices and keep the business records the law requires; and to keep the website secure and working well. We will only send marketing messages if you have asked to receive them, and you can unsubscribe at any time.

Who we share it with

We do not sell or rent personal information. We share it only with service providers that help us run the business, and only as far as they need it: Square (payments), Cloudflare (website hosting, security and email delivery), Google (account sign-in and web fonts) and the shipping carrier that delivers your parcel.

Some of these providers store or process information outside Canada, including in the United States, where it may be subject to the laws of that country. We may also disclose information where the law requires it.

How long we keep it

Order and invoice records are kept for at least six years, as Canadian tax law requires. Reservation details are kept for up to twelve months. Account information is kept until you ask us to delete your account. Website statistics contain no personal information.

How we protect it

The website is served over encrypted connections, access to customer information is limited to approved owner accounts, and payment details are handled entirely by Square. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information and will notify you and the Privacy Commissioner of Canada where the law requires it.

Your choices and rights

You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, withdraw your consent, or ask us to delete your account. Email tastebenderoriginals@gmail.com and we will respond within 30 days. Some records, such as invoices, must be kept to meet legal obligations.

If you are not satisfied with our response, you may contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada at priv.gc.ca.

Children

This website is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their personal information.
